Molly Lowe, Tamar Ettun and The Moving Company: Pre-Midnight

Curator: Adi Puterman

Performance: January 22, 2015, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Andrea Meislin Gallery, 534 West 24th Street, New York, NY 10011

Andrea Meislin Gallery is proud to announce Pre-Midnight, a performance by New York- based artists Tamar Ettun and Molly Lowe. Commissioned by Andrea Meislin Gallery and presented to the public for the first time, Pre-Midnight is Ettun and Lowe’s first collaborative piece.

Conceived as a series of performative sketches, Pre-Midnight draws its inspirations from a diverse range of cultural influences spanning from Yvonne Rainer and the Judson Church to Japanese game shows. Choreographed by Ettun and Lowe and played out by Ettun’s Moving Company, Pre-Midnight confronts its movers with a set of irrational activities that present a meeting point between sculpture and performance.

Each sketch is designed as a live sculpture, a succession of movements in which the movers engage with everyday materials and objects that have the ability to be utilized and animated. While the sketches are played out independently, their simultaneity renders the performance as a bizarre scenario that accumulates to an out-of the-ordinary, dysfunctional and incomprehensible party.

Performance starts at 6:30 PM, with intermission. Come and go as you please.
